Bagley Art Deco Fish Scale Round Satin Frosted Uranium Glass Bowl, England

This charming Art Deco inspired blue glass shallow bowl has beautiful fish scale and floral motifs with a ruffled edge.

The underside is satin frosted to enhance visibility of texture. The glass contains uranium as a colouring agent and gives an intense green fluorescence under UV light.

Made in England by Bagley & Co. Ltd's The Crystal Glass Company, the bowl is pattern no. 3067, known as 'Fish Scale'. This design was introduced in 1938 and manufactured through to the mid-1950s and produced in a variety of forms and colours.

About Bagley

Bagley & Co. began in Yorkshire in 1871 as Bagley Glass of Knottingley and although they remained predominantly a manufacturer of bottles in 1913 they began manufacturing glass tableware and art glass under the name 'The Crystal Glass Company'. They were soon the most prolific manufacturer of pressed glassware in Britain, and produced a wide range of designs, until finally closing in 1976.
