Artist instructions for cleaning are as follows:
"The surface of this individually handcrafted pottery is slightly ´textured’. Cleaning is simply a matter of placing the pot under running water - and allowing it to 'drip' dry. Use of a dust cloth may result in cloth fragments being caught in the surface texture."
Good Vintage Condition.
The dry-glazed finish has some scuff marks which are typical on a raw finish.

Studio Pottery Vessel - Sunset Series Vase by Australian Artist Jan Twyerould
Studio Pottery Vessel, Sunset Series by Jan Twyerould
The finely textured dry-glazed and individually handcrafted bud vase, vessel, is part of Jan Twyerould’s Sunset Series. The piece is thrown with porcelain clay, airbrushed with body stains and fired in an electric kiln to 1280oC.
Twyerould found inspiration for her forms by camping extensively in the Australian and New Zealand landscape and observing the landscapes silhouette against the colourful sunsets.
About The Artist
Jan Twyerould studied part-time at the Caulfield Institute of Technology, Melbourne, before moving to Adelaide in 1974 and setting up a studio in Seven Hills. From 1980-1982, she was a resident at the Jam Factory workshops. In 1982, she set up a new studio at her home in Stepney where she is still based. She is a member of the Potters' Guild of SA and curated the South Australian Ceramic Award in 2005. Her work features thrown tableware and one-off porcelain pieces with carved, airbrushed and inlaid decoration. A trademark series of sunset-inspired pieces comes from camping in the Australian and New Zealand bush. She has entries in the 1981-1996 potters' directories. She signs her work with an impressed 'T' or an incised 'Jan Twyerould'.
